Every plant deserves a pretty pot!
Personally, I like to mix styles of plant pots and baskets to achieve a collected feel. I also like to incorporate vintage or repurposed items from my home. One of my favorite ways to display plants is in crocks! Look for a basket you may not be using and see if your plant looks nice sitting in it. You can achieve a new look by moving things around from your own home.
If you are in need of a new plant pot, I rounded up some of my current favorites. Have fun expressing your style!

Basic Tips for Your New Plant Pots
- Your pot should be at least one full size larger than your plant. For example, if you have a plant in a 6″ grower pot from the store, you will need at least an 8″ pot. Do not buy the same size pot as your plant! It either will not fit down in the pot at all, or it will stick out the top. This does not look good! You can always measure the width and height of your plant to determine the best size pot. Always go with a larger pot if you are unsure.
- Use saucers under your plant, inside the plant pot. This will catch any extra water and prevent a mess! I have this set of 15 saucers in assorted sizes. This is another set that I use and is more heavy-duty. Remember to empty any extra water out of the saucer after watering!
- Save plastic lids and containers you may typically throw away or recycle. These can be used to give your plants a boost inside the plant pot. If your plant is sitting very low in the pot, drop in a lid or small container to raise the height a bit. Also, lids can also be used for plant saucers!
- You can plant directly in pots, using fresh potting soil. I typically do not go this route because I like to feel the weight of the plant to check for watering needs, and I like to switch around my plants and pots often! If you do want to plant directly, you need to either put rocks in the bottom of your pot and be careful not to overwater, or place a saucer under your decorative pot (if there is a drainage hole).
I hope you found some ideas or inspiration for displaying your houseplants! This is such a fun way to express your style, and luckily, houseplants never go out of style 😉
